Most of our residents have had multiple inpatient treatments but have been unable to implement the tools of recovery on their own. While knowledge about the disease of alcoholism/addiction is essential, without support and implementation, it is useless! Our program provides the recovering individual with a task-oriented day that includes work, groups, assignments and 12-step meetings. Residents are held accountable for their actions and are given encouragement to do the "next right thing".
This approach allows the recovering alcoholic/addict the time necessary for recovery and other life-skills to become second nature. Repetition brings familiarity - familiarity brings comfort - comfort leads to lasting change.
No matter how hard he tries the alcoholic/addict can NEVER think his way into right living (if he could you wouldn't be reading this right now). One must always live their way into right thinking.
